Adventure of the
American Mind

The Federation of Independent
Illinois Colleges and Universities and
National-Louis University
About the Project:

Adventure of the American Mind (AAM) is a federally funded project of the Library of Congress that aims to highlight the American Memory web site as an educational resource. The project is designed to prepare in-service and pre-service classroom teachers to access, use, and produce curriculum utilizing the internet and the digitized primary source materials from the Library of Congress. Activities include creating courses and professional development venues as well as curricular materials such as lesson plans. The project began in the late 1990s in North Carolina but has expanded to other states, including Illinois.

The Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities (www.federationedu.org) in partnership with National Louis University, will develop a project to integrate the use of the American Memory web site and technology into the teacher education curriculum.
